Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarming musical adaptation features seventeen Irving Berlin songs and book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. The dazzling score features well known standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is The Ocean and the perennial favorite White Christmas. Nostalgic and charming White Christmas is an uplifting musical worthy of becoming a year round tradition.

Tantrums and Tiaras: Battle of the Bar Queens 2014 is back and better than ever! This fun, campy drag pageant will take place Sunday, Feb. 16 at 7 pm at the Birch North Park Theatre and will benefit The San Diego LGBT Community Center and its over 40 programs and services.
Started in 2009, this event is a spoof on the Miss America Pageant, with many of the community’s bars sending a contestant from their staff – with little or no drag experience – to compete for the crown. The first Tantrums and Tiaras event was sold out, with community members coming together to see their favorite bar staff compete, and the 2014 event is expected to be the same.
This event will be nothing like a “traditional drag show” – instead, it will be pageant style and all of the contestants will have very little experience. These “non-performing queens” will try their best to strut around the stage in stilettos, trying not to fall over. The show is a full-scale stage production and audience members will be wowed by what is in store for them. In its first year, contestants surprised the audience with a live donkey, roller skates and flying effects on stage.
The event being organized in partnership between Mo’s Universe (proprietor of Urban Mo’s, Baja Betty’s, Gossip Grill and Hillcrest Brewing Company) and The Center, an organization which provided direct services to more than 50,000 community members last year. Mo’s Universe is a longtime supporter of The Center, and regularly gives back to the organization.
Those who want to support Tantrums and Tiaras early can participate in the first fundraiser, taking place this Sunday, Aug. 11 at Hillcrest CityFest. A dunk tank will be in the CityFest beer garden from noon to 8 pm with several local personalities donating their time to be “dunked.” All proceeds from the dunk tank will benefit the Tantrums and Tiaras production.
Show is ages 18 and up only!
